Remineralization and Fluoride Treatment

Teeth need calcium, phosphate and fluoride.

Healthy saliva contains these minerals, and in conjunction with certain salivary proteins is able to deliver bio-available calcium and phosphate to the tooth surface during the demineralization/remineralization process. Calcium and phosphate are known to help:

  • Strengthen tooth enamel
  • Reduce sensitivity
  • Buffer plaque acid

MI Paste contains RECALDENT™ (CPP-ACP). This technology has a unique ability to deliver bio-available calcium and phosphate when they are needed most. MI Paste binds calcium and phosphate to tooth surfaces, plaque and surrounding soft tissue. The RECALDENT™ (CPP-ACP) technology releases the calcium and phosphate when a patient’s saliva is acid challenged by the normal digestive process.

MI Paste Indications
MI Paste is indicated for post-bleaching sensitivity, root planing and scaling, as well as during prophylaxis.

Features and Benefits

RECALDENT™ (CPP-ACP) – Bio-available

Calcium and Phosphate:

Contains RECALDENT™ (CPP-ACP). Casein Phosphopeptide (CPP) are natural occurring molecules which are able to bind calcium and phosphate ions and stabilize Amorphous Calcium Phosphate (ACP).2, 3

RECALDENT™ (CPP-ACP) is a special milk-derived protein that can help replace lost minerals in teeth, make them stronger and helps protect them from decay and erosion.1, 3

Adheres easily to soft tissue, pellicle, plaque and even hydroxyapatite. Reacts similar to the mineral/statherin relation in saliva supplying bio-available calcium and phosphate required for remineralization to take place.1, 3

Under acidic conditions, RECALDENT™ (CPP-ACP) releases calcium and phosphate ions into tooth enamel4.

Supplies calcium and phosphate needed for patients with poor saliva flow. This situation can be further augmented by elevating the level of fluoride.1

Topical Paste:

Water-based, sugar-free topical creme with a special blend of polishing, cleaning and dentin tubule sealing agents.

Five tasty flavors – melon, mint, strawberry, tutti frutti and vanilla.

Easy to Use:

Prophy cup application: Apply generous layer of MI Paste as a final polishing after routine prophylaxis. Patient does not need to rinse away.

Custom tray application: Extrude a generous layer to tray and position in patients mouth for 3 minutes.
MI Paste is digestable if swallowed.

Products containing RECALDENT™ (CPP-ACP) should not be consumed by people with milk protein allergies. RECALDENT™ (CPP-ACP) is digestible by people with lactose intolerance.

After initial treatment, the tube of MI Paste can be used for professionally supervised at-home follow-up

Amorphous Calcium Phosphate

(ACP), known as an extremely effective desensitizer, has also been clinically proven to remineralize teeth. Demineralization from soda and other acidic-foods causes dulling and a higher susceptibility to caries. Remineralization is the process of depositing a new layer of minerals onto the tooth surface. ACP remineralizes and strengthens teeth, adding luster and rebuilding tooth enamel. The result is reduced sensitivity, improved tooth enamel and overall enhanced tooth appearance.

Rebuilds Enamel. Amorphous calcium phosphate is a chemical precursor to natural hydroxyapatite minerals that are found in teeth. ACP creates a new coating of hydroxyapatite over the original tooth surface, This new coating of hydroxyapatite rebuilds enamel through a process called remineralization.

Dramatically Reduced Sensitivity. ACP dramatically reduces dentinal hypersensitivity by occluding dentinal tubules. Discus Dental whitening gels, such as NiteWhite ACP, are the only whiteners to combine patented ACP technology with the proven effectiveness of Potassium Nitrate and Fluoride to establish a new standard for patient comfort in professional whitening.

Reduced Fadeback. Studies show that patients who used tooth whitener with ACP experienced less fadeback to their origional tooth color after six months.

Improved Apperance – restores Enamel Luster. ACP improves the smoothness and luster of teeth by filling superficial tooth defects and improving the overall smoothness and luster of patients smiles.
